Senior Software Engineer – Build, Lead & Deliver High‑Impact Engineering at Evri

Ready to design modern software solutions, deliver high‑quality engineering, and help shape the future of Evri’s technology landscape?

If you thrive on building scalable systems, leading technical delivery, and elevating engineering standards across teams, this role gives you the platform to make a real impact across Evri’s Engineering organisation.

This role is remote‑first, with occasional travel to Morley, Leeds for collaboration and cross‑team technical sessions.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll take a leading role in designing, engineering and delivering high‑quality software solutions across the stack. Whether your strength is backend (Java/Spring Boot) or frontend (JavaScript/TypeScript with React/Vue), you’ll have opportunities to work full‑stack and contribute to modern, scalable engineering practices.

You’ll mentor junior engineers, influence design decisions, and support the evolution of engineering standards across your domain. You’ll champion clean architecture, automated testing, reliability, and technical excellence - ensuring Evri continues to deliver secure, robust and future‑ready platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development and delivery of complex software features and services
  • Write clean, maintainable and production‑ready code across backend and/or frontend
  • Apply and promote engineering best practices, testing strategies and clean architecture
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers through code reviews, pairing and technical direction
  • Collaborate with product, delivery, architecture and engineering teams to shape solutions
  • Improve system performance, reliability, observability and automation
  • Contribute to Agile planning, estimation and documentation
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and help influence architectural direction
  • Identify and drive improvements in tooling, automation and engineering processes
  • Ensure solutions meet security, regulatory and performance standards

Interested? Here’s What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • Significant experience in software engineering with depth in backend or frontend development
  • Strong skills in Java/Spring Boot and/or JavaScript/TypeScript (React/Vue)
  • Solid understanding of scalable architecture, design patterns and distributed systems
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing and DevOps practices
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to influence technical decisions
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to team capability growth
  • A continuous improvement mindset and passion for modern engineering practices
